Käisime suusaretkel Tabasalus, pildistasime loodust ja nautisime mõnusat talveilma. Viimsel ajal on olnud väga kiired ajad nii tööl kui ülikoolis ja veebruar tõotab tulla veel eriti pingeline. Kui vähegi aeg võimaldab, alustan uue käsitööprojektiga, nii mõnigi mõte mõlgub juba meeltes.

We went on a ski trip in Tabasalu, photographed nature and enjoyed lovely winter weather. Last days have been really busy at work and at the university and it won't get any easier in February. I'm looking forward to start the new handicraft poject, there are lots of ideas in my mind.

 

Jaanuar on olnud üks kiire kuu, millest suurema osa võttis kolimine.  Esimesel pildil on näha veel viimast kohvilauda Voltas ja teisel talvist hetke läbi aknaruudu. Laual kumav keraamiline küünlaalus on minu õe kätetöö. Oleme käinud palju suusatamas ja vaikselt hakkab tekkima väike kindlus ja tasakaal. Järgmine nädal algab suusakool, kus õpime uisusammu, mis peaks kogu ettevõtmise veel nauditavamaks muutma :) Kiisudega müts-sall pole mu enda käsitöö, vaid kingitus jõuludeks, mis on aga nii vahva, et väärib kindlasti siin äramärkimist. Viimasel pildil särav jõulupuu on üles pildistatud Kallaveres varahommikul enne tundide algust.  Uues korteris on vaja veel asju seada, aga muidu hakkab see vaikselt juba kodusemaks muutuma - siin on omad plussid ja miinused. Volta helgeid aegu jääme hea sõnaga meenutama.

January has been one hasty month. Moving to a new place has taken most of it. In the first photo you can see the last coffee table in Volta and in the second picture there is a wintery moment through the window. The ceramic candle holder is my sister's creation. We have skied a lot and we're quietly developing balance and confidence. We're going to skiing class to learn the skate technique next week. This should eventually make our skiing trips much more enjoyable. The hat-scarf with kittens is not self made, but a christmas present so cute it deserves to be noted here. The picture of the shiny christmas tree is taken early morning in Kallavere before classes. There are still things to do in our new apartment, but it's becoming more cozy each day. It has its ups and downs. The bright days in Volta will be remembered with kind words.

Uus aasta tuli seekord suure pauguga - meie üürileping öeldi üles! Peale kahte väga masendunud päeva hakkasime tööle ja leidsime nädalaga uue koha :) Aastavahetus oli pidulik, kaetud laua ja kolmekäigulise õhtusöögiga: valmistasin vürtsika tomatisupi krõbedate küüslaugu ciabattaga, täidetud broilerid ahjuköögiviljadega ja magustoiduks tiramisu. Pidu oli mõnus ja seltskond vahva, uue aasta varahommikul läksime Sinilindu tantsima ja teisi sõpru-tuttvaid tervitama.

Uus aasta on olnud vägagi töine, valmistasin ette uut veerandit koolis, mis tuleb eriti pikk - 10 nädalat! Heegeldasin valmis järjehoidjad Peterburist tulnud sõpruskooli külalistele. Inspiratiooni sain Eesti kihelkondade rahavarõiva triibuseelikutest - (vasakult paremale lugedes) Järva-Jaani, Kuusalu, Kolga-Jaani, Torma ja Jõelähtme. Soe ja sulane ilm hakkab läbi saama, miinuskraadid on süvenenud ning lund hakanud uuesti peale sadama - tore, sest uuel aastal polegi veel suusatama jõudnud!

This year started with a bang - our rental contract was canceled! After two depressing days we started looking for a new place and found it :) The New Year's Eve was ceremonial with a three course dinner: I made a spicy tomato soup with crunchy garlic ciabattas, a stuffed broiler with vegetables and a tiramisu for desert. The party was cool and the crowd was fun. On the early morning of new year we went dancing and greeting our other friends at Sinilind.
The new year has been full of work. I prepared some school stuff for this 10-week half semester. I crocheted bookmarks for the guests of our friendship school in St. Petersburg. I was inspired by national striped skirts of Estonian parishes - (from left to right) Järva-Jaani, Kuusalu, Kolga-Jaani, Torma and Jõelähtme. It's cold again and snowfall has replaced the warm thaw - it's nice, we haven't skied this year anyway.

Meie jõulud olid täis lähedasi inimesi, naeru, rõõmu, hõrgutavaid maitseid, imelisi lõhne, põnevust ja toredaid kingitusi.

Nüüd aga valmistume aastavahetuseks: toad koristatud, menüü paigas, poes käidud, shampused külmas, tina valamist ootamas ja laudki juba kaetud - oodata on külla 12 sõpra. Täna käisime veel sel aastal viimast korda suusatamas aga homme seisab ees tihe kokkamispäev ja vaikselt hakkab tekkima juba ootusärvus.  Toredat vana aasta lõppu ja veelgi edukamat uut!!!

Our christmas was filled with close people, laughter, joy, exquisite tastes, wonderful smells, excitement and fun gifts.
But now we're getting ready for New Years Eve: the rooms have been cleaned, menu is ready, champagne in the freezer, led ready to be poured and even the tables are laid - 12 friends are expected. Today we went skiing for the last time this year but tomorrow we are facing an intense cooking day and anxiety is quietly growing.

Õpetajate jõulupeol käisime Viimsi Rannarahvamuuseumis ja imetlesime, kuidas eelmise sajandi alguses Naissaarel naised elasid. Kaunid buduaarid, ümmargused kohvilauad, õrn portselan, peen käsitöö, laiad õlgkübarad ja õhulised kleidid on märksõnad, mis seda ajastut iseloomustavad.

Jõuludeni on täpselt 5 päeva ja maailmalõpuni 3 päeva - põnevus on suur! Pakkisin täna kingitusi ja heegeldasin mustika-cointreau moosidele mütsid, mis samuti pakkidesse rändasid. Heegelskeemid leidsin internetist ja lisasin juurde ka veidi omaloomingut. Väljas on käre pakane aga meil praksub ahjus tuli ja toas on soe ja mõnus!

At the teachers' christmas party we went to the National Museum of Coastal Folk in Viimsi and admired, how the women of Naissaare used to live in the beginning of the previous century. The beautiful boudoirs, rounded coffee tables, delicate china, sophisticated handicrafts, wide straw hats and aery dresses are the keywords for describing that era.
Exactly 5 days til christmas and 3 days to the worlds end - lots of excitement! I wrapped gifts today and crocheted hats for blueberry-cointreau jam jars which will also be gift wrapped. I found the crochet chart from the internet and added a bit of improvisation. It's really snappy outside but our fireplace is heating the room and it's warm and cozy inside.

Selle aasta esimene jõulupidu koos õpetajatega on peetud ! Käisime Viimsi Rannarahvamuuseumis, kus meile räägiti erakordsetest Naissaare naistest eelmise sajandi alguses ning õpetati tegema shokolaadikomme. Seejärel käisime ekskursioonil Botaanikaaias, kus meile tutvustati üldtutnud taimi ning õhtu lõppes toreda jõulusöömaajaga talveaias.Varsti algab jõuluvaheaeg, mul on veel kaks tööpäeva ja siis ongi aega veidi hinge tõmmata, et koguda end uueks tegusaks aastaks! Kõik kingitused on olemas  ja jõuluplaanid tehtud. Kui ainult seda pidevat muret magistritöö pärast poleks, siis võiks lausa öelda, et elu on ilus!

This years first christmas party with other teachers has been held ! We went to Viimsi Museum of Coastal Folk, where we were told about the extraordinary women of Naissaar from the beginning of the century and also were also taught the making of chocolate candy. After that we went to an excursion to the Botanic Garden, where we were shown commonly known plants. The night ended with a nice christmas feast in the winter garden. Christmas holidays will soon begin and I have two working days left before I can catch my breath to get ready for the intense new year. All the presents are ready and so are christmas plans. If only there weren't the constant worrying about the Master's Thesis, then I could even cheer "what a wonderful life!".

Veel enne kui sadas maha kohev lumevaip oli päeval tihe udu ja päike loojus eriti kuldselt ja tulisena. Viisime jalgrattad talvekoju ja tõime välja suusad - varsti varsti teeme esimese sõidu !  Sain üles pildistada lillad palmiksokid, mille mustri leidsin siit ja lõngaks kasutasin segu, mis koosnes 80% villast ja 20% polüamiidist, et sokid kauem vastu peaks (Supersport Effekt), vardad nr 3. Väljas on miinuskraadid tunduvalt langenud ja järjest rohkem tuleb ahju kütta, toas põlevad jõuluhõngulised lõhnaküünlad ning oleme juba mitu korda jõulu toitu (verivorst, hapukapsas, pohlamoos, keedukartul, kõrvitsasalat) söönud ning piparkooke krõbistanud. Naudime mõnusat jõuluaega!

Before a thick snow carpet snowed down there was a thick mist and the sunset was especially golden and warm. We took our bicycles to their winter home and exchanged them with skis - soon we will go for our first ride! I took pictures of the purple cabled socks. I got the pattern here and for the yarn I used a mix of 80% cotton and 20% polyamid for the socks to last longer (Supersport Effekt), no. 3 needles. The temperature has fallen considerably and the furnace has to be heated more and more. Scented candles bring christmassy feeling to our apartment and we've eaten christmas food (blood sausage, sourkraut, cowberry jam, potatoes, pumpkin salad) and crunched gingerbreads several times already. We're enjoying the cosy christmas time!
