Kuigi ilmad on veel üsna suvised käivad õpetajad juba teist nädalat tööl. Homme on esimene september ja uus kooliaasta saab jälle käima lükatud. Natuke on kurb, et puhkus on läbi saanud, samas ees seisab imeilus värviline sügis, mis toob kaasa palju uut!
Ühel nädalavahetusel sõitsime Laatresse, sõbra maakodusse, et seal loodust nautida, end vabana tunda, ujumas käia, tähistaevast vaadata ja head seltskonda nautida. Kasutasin juhust ja tegin algust ühe huvitava projektiga, mida olen pikalt edasi lükanud. Nimelt olen juba pool aastat kogunud vanu t-särke, et nad ribadeks lõigata ja et siis hiljem kaltsuvaibaks heegeldada. Vaip veel päris valmis ei ole, kui materjali juurde saan, siis tahaks seda veel suuremaks teha. Hetkel on töö diameeter u 65 cm ja sinna sisse mahtus täpselt 12 keskmise suurusega trikotaažist särki, heegelnõela suurus vist 10. Poole aasta pärast kui vaip on sentimeetreid juurde saanud näitan jälle tema edasiarengut :)

Although the weather is still quite summery, the teachers have been back to work for the second week already. Tomorrow is the 1st September and new school year will start again. It's sad that the vacation is over, but there's a vivid and beautiful autumn ahead waiting to surprise with new things!
One weekend we went to Laatre at a friend's summer house so we could enjoy the nature and feel free, to go swimming, watch the stars and enjoy good company. I used the opportunity to start an interesting project which I have postponed for a long time. Namely I have collected old t-shirts for half a year so I can shred them and later crochet them into a rag carpet. The carpet is not quite ready, but it will grow in size once I get some new materials. The diameter is about 65 cm and it consists of exactly 12 mid-sized hosiery shirts, the crochet hook size 10, I guess. After another half a year when the carpet has gained centimeters I will show you the progress :)

Augusti alguses tähistasime oma esimest pulma-aastapäeva Prahas. Nautisime lõpuks ometi sel suvel kolmekümne kraadist kuumust. Jalutasime vanalinnas ning vaatasime üle kõik olulisemad vaatamisväärsused, matkasime Petrini künka otsa, külastasime roosiaedu, sõime trdelnikuid ja käsisime absindibaaris :) Tegime ka ühe väljasõidu Karlovy Varysse, kus maitsesime erinevatest kuumaveeallikatest termaalvett ja sõime spaavahvleid :)
Tagasi kodumaale jõudes oli ka siia saabunud kauaoodatud suvesoojus. Oleme veetnud viimased nädalavahetused maal, kus sai nii kartuleid võtta, metsas marjul käia kui ka niisama logeleda. Õmblesin Burda abiga peplumstiilis topi. Mulle tohutult meeldis see siidine lindudega kangatükk, mille Abakhanist leidsin ja värv on just nii kärts, et sobib kenasti suve lõppu päevitanud ihu kaunistama :) Mõnusat ja kuuma hilissuve !

At the beginning of August we celebrated our first wedding anniversary in Prague. We finally got a chance to enjoy a 30-degree heat this summer. We walked around the old town, saw all the most important landmarks, took a hike on top of the Petrin Hill, visited the rose gardens, ate trdelnik's and went to an absinthe bar :) We also took a trip to Karlovy Vary, where we tasted thermal spring water and ate spa wafers :)
When we got back to our home country it had gotten hot here also. We have spent the last few weekends at the countryside where we harvested potatoes, went picking berries in the forest and just hang around. I sewed a peplum top with the help of Burda. I really liked that silky piece of fabric with birds which I found in Abakhan. The color is vivid enough to decorate a tanned summer-end-body :) Have a hot late summer!

August on mu lemmikkuu! Marjad on valmis ja ideedest puudust ei tule, kuidas neid hoidistada. Tegin talveks vaarika-, mustsõsta- ja kirsilikööri. Nädalavahetusel käisime veel metsas ja korjasime mustikaid. Pooled sõime niisama piima, kohupiima ja pannkookide sees ja teisest poolest keetsin koos maasikatega moosi. Mõni nädal tagasi keetsin kirsimoosi ja nüüd ootab veel  ämbritäis tikreid, neid hakkan täna purkidesse pistma.  Juuli lõpus olime nädala Võrus ja seal  tegime selle aasta esimese kukeseene kastme ja sõime värskelt vurritaud mett.
Kudusin ka ühed pitsilised sokid villasest lõngast, mustri leidsin nagu ikka Käsitööst. Erilised on need sokid veel selle poolest, et kudusin tavalise kanna asemel seekord nn "kogemata kontsa".  Suure tõenäosusega lähevad need ühele kallile inimesele kingituseks :)
Ja nüüd on aeg randa minna, sest lõpuks ometi on Eestis  kuuma 30 kraadi, ei saa seda imelist olukorda raisata :)

August is my favorite month! The berries are ready and I have plenty of ideas of preserving them. I made raspberry, blackberry and cherry liqueur. At the weekend we went into the forest and picked some blueberries. We ate half of them with milk, curd and pancakes and the other half I made into strawberry-blueberry jam. A few weeks ago I cooked cherry jam and now I have a bucketful of gooseberries waiting to be jarred today. At the end of July we were in Võru for one week and cooked a chanterelle sauce for the first time this year. We also had freshly centrifuged honey.
I knitted laced socks out of woolen yarn. The pattern came from Käsitöö, as usually. These socks are special, because this time I used different heel pattern (short-row-heel). There's a great possibility they will become a present for a dear person :)
Now it's time to go to the beach, because there is finally 30 degrees outside and it should not go to waste :)
